Bahama Rock Ltd. helping to develop the port area
Bahama Rock Ltd., as per an agreement with the Grand Bahama Port Authority, is currently helping to develop the port area by dredging the expansions to the Container Port and the Harbour.
Robert O. Ray, plant manager of Bahama Rock, explained that from the dredged material, the company is supplying product for hotel construction, buildup of the port area and stone for landscaping projects. Some of its product is used locally; however, most of the 2.5 million tons of product it produces is exported for use as construction aggregate for ready-mixed concrete, asphalt, road construction, etc.
Ray reported that because of increased business the company is investing $40 million in a new processing facility. "This will allow us to expand into new markets. There is a lot of opportunity for industry to develop here," said Ray.
