OFO seeks to be a global market leader

Oman Fiber Optic Company (OFO) was established in 1996, with a view toward manufacturing world-class optical fiber and optical fiber cable products. In today’s world, the communication systems have been revolutionized with the advent of fiber optic technology. Fiber optic cable allows for high-speed communication lines and thus finds extensive applications in telecommunications, cable TV, data communications, Local Area Networks and video transmission.

The use of optical fiber cables has spread worldwide and the Middle East is no exception. Because of the strategic importance of the entire Middle East region and its growing contribution to world trade, the communication sector receives utmost priority. OFO endeavors to fulfill the growing demands of a progressive region.

Located in the capital of Muscat at the Rusayl Industrial park, the OFO plant is atmospherically controlled, maintaining a constant year-round environment.

Bill Kokot, the plant manager at OFO said that, “As a new company we apply state-of-the-art technology…Being in the Middle East, our labor force comes from all over the world, this puts us in a very good position worldwide. We have the ability to manufacture indoors and outdoors.” He said that they can tailor designs to individual customers within six months.

OFO is dedicated to manufacturing products to international quality standards, and providing services for total customer satisfaction. It has undertaken backward vertical integration and has installed a captive fiber draw facility that comes from Nextrom Oy, Finland. This makes OFO a leading fiber cabling plant with in-house fiber manufacturing technology. Plans include manufacture of Preforms for drawing of different fiber types, both single mode and multi-mode options.

“We are looking to expand our facility to a 144-fiber capability. We are also integrating our own fiber,” said Kokot. Investors should look into the prices, Kokot said, explaining that OFO is looking for investors.
