Major Highlights of 1999 Budget

1) Oil Deregulation

• Freed up product imports, allowing oil marketers to freely import refined products in direct competition of Nigerian Petroleum Corporation (NNPC)
• Significant funding for refining turnaround maintenance and refurbishment aimed at satisfying local consumption.
• Raised gas prices under a uniform pricing system, for which price equalization will be managed by oil marketers.
