Federal Housing Authority

Our Commitment

The Federal Housing Authority was established under Decree No. 40 of 1973.
  • To implement government’s policies and plans on housing development in Nigeria.
  • Prepare and submit to government, proposals for national housing programs from time to time.
  • Make recommendations to government on urban and regional planning, transportation, communications, electric power and sewage and water supply development relevant to the successful execution of housing programs approved by the government.
  • Implement housing programs approved by the government.
Today, twenty-five years since the promulgation of the enabling decree, FHA’s significant achievements and keen sense of mission will see it through the challenge of keeping with the spirit and letter of its mandate.

The FHA Estate at Gwarinpa, Abuja
FHA Estate at Gwarinpa is expected to meet the growing housing demands of ministries, parastatals, embassies, corporate bodies and individuals in the medium and high-income brackets as they move to Abuja, Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory.
There will be 3,600 housing units, accommodating an estimated 40,000 people. There will be seven house types with peculiar and general features. It is believed that FHA Estate at Gwarinpa, Abuja, would be comparable to the best houses in the finest cities of the world.
